University IT has moved the MySQL Database Hosting Service to the cloud. While it still includes all of the features and functionality of the current on-premise platform, below are some key differences to note.
Different URLs for Requesting Accounts and Access
The URLs for the MySQL cloud platform differ from the legacy MySQL console.
Request Accounts:
- Legacy: https://tools.stanford.edu/sumysql (link no longer available)
- Cloud: https://mysqlhosting.stanford.edu
Access
Action(s) Required
- To access the MySQL Database Hosting service in the cloud, you must request a new account from the new MySQL Database Application (even if you already have an account in the legacy MySQL database hosting service).
NOTE: Provisioning for new accounts may take up to one business day.
- If you already use the legacy MySQL database hosting service, you must migrate your existing database(s) to cloud MySQL database hosting before the platform is decommissioned on Oct. 31, 2024.

New Request Account Screen with Service Agreement
- In the legacy console, users must agree to the terms and conditions before completing the account request form.
- In the cloud, the Service Agreement (terms and conditions) is now part of the Request account form. The new form will include a link to the new Service Agreement (terms and conditions) that requesters must review and agree to before submitting the request.
