How to Recycle Cell Phones and Mobile Devices

IT Services mobile device recycling program

IT Services has partnered with an outside vendor to securely wipe and recycle unwanted cell phones, tablets, and data cards. All personal and corporate information will be removed, even if the mobile device is broken or the screen is cracked. Once a phone is dropped off or mailed in for recycling, it cannot be returned.

Drop off

Drop off your device during normal business hours at the Mobile Device Program office at 468 Via Ortega (Spruce Hall), Room F2.

   or...

Mail

Put your device in an interdepartmental envelope mail and send it to us via ID mail, Mail Code 4144.

Erase

For added security and privacy, you can erase your device yourself before it's recycled.

  •  iOS Devices: go to Settings / General / Reset. Then select Erase All Content and Settings.
  • Non-iOS devices (Android, Windows Mobile, RIM Blackberry, flip phones, etc.): please call 5-Help, Option 4. An agent will walk you through the correct procedure to erase your device.
