Vision, Mission, and Staff

Vision

To provide high quality computing-related training opportunities (classroom training, one-on-one training, online courses, and other delivery systems) that deliver timely, appropriate, technical training for faculty and staff in Schools, departments, and central offices.

Mission

As it implements its vision, IT Services Technology Training Services is driven by the University's needs, and a fast-paced changing technological environment.

Technology Training Services:

  • Provides a broad range of technical and computer training
  • Maximizes overall performance by providing quality training for the effective use of computing resources in the workplace
  • Ensures that its services meet the needs of the University now and in the future by anticipating relevant trends
  • Introduces and modifies training program offerings in response to and in anticipation of changing technologies and campus needs

Staff

Nancy Baumann, Manager — Nancy manages the Technology Training program and staff. Nancy has an extensive background in training at Stanford, in particular, as well as in other university and corporate settings. Her background is in instructional design, curriculum development and managing training organizations. Nancy has an MA in Education. She also manages the Campus Readiness program in IT Services.

Don Cameron, Course and Marketing Coordinator — Don's responsibilities include marketing, maintaining the group's client and internal web sites, collecting and reporting on group metrics, producing Tech Briefing sessions, and providing backup support to the Registrar and Lab Manager. After studying Journalism up in Prince Edward Island, Canada, Don made his way down to California where he got his start in the Stanford Library system. He's been working at Stanford since 1997, and with IT Services since 2000.

Christine Capper, Operations Lead / Registrar— Christine oversees the daily operations within Technology Training Services. She also manages the Classes on Requests and Training by Appointment programs as part of her Registrar duties. Christine joined the team in 2011, bringing with her 20 years of Stanford experience in program management,  community/public relations and conference planning.  She holds a B.S. degree in Hospitality Management and Business Administration from Cal Poly State University. When not playing at work, she enjoys playing with her three daughters.

Joe Knox, Assistant Lab Manager and Administrator— Joe assists with both lab and administrative duties, including the installation of new software, re-imaging of computers, maintaining hardware inventory and firmware updates, editing of group's webpages, course scheduling and coordination of special events, and distributing marketing flyers. Joe joined the team in 2012 after earning a B.A. degree in Journalism and Media studies with a minor in Educational Technology from San Diego State University.

Creed Raftery, Billing Coordinator— Creed tracks the course offerings, attendance, and student billing.  He also works with outside vendors who offer training courses at Stanford.  He has worked in various departments at the university for about 10 years, including the Budget Office and Department of Radiology.  He recieved his B.A. from UC Irvine and MBA from the University of Illinois.
