To provide a variety of high quality training opportunities (classroom training, one-on-one training, online courses, and other delivery systems) that deliver timely, appropriate, technical training for faculty and staff in Schools, departments, and central offices.
As it implements its vision, IT Services Technology Training Services is driven by the University's needs, a changing technological environment, and resource constraints. Technology Training Services:
Nancy Baumann, Manager — Nancy manages the Technology Training program and staff. Nancy has an extensive background in training at Stanford, in particular, as well as in other university and corporate settings. Her background is in instructional design, curriculum development and managing training organizations. Nancy received her BA from Illinois State University and her MA in Education from San Francisco State University.
Mark Branom, Instructor — Mark teaches courses on technology and develops curriculum. Prior to working for IT Services, he served as a student services administrator for the School of Engineering. In addition to the classes he teaches for our group, Mark is also an academic advisor, a lecturer with Continuing Studies, and an adjunct professor at Cañada College. Mark received both his bachelors and masters degrees from Stanford and specializes in demystifying computers and information technologies for non-techies.
John Baltierra, Classroom Technical Support — John provides technical support for our facilities. He has been the coordinator of classroom operations since 1997, now at the Encina Modular B Instructional Labs. Since then, he has also become the LNA for the Encina Modular B Instructional Labs, and assumed technical responsibilities for our classrooms in Redwood Hall and Polya Hall, and Turing Auditorium. He oversees and maintains PC and Mac hardware and software for our classroom operations. John attended Stanford and has been a field geologist, reference staff and operations manager for the Earth Sciences Library, and done desktop support for the Science Libraries department.
Don Cameron, Course and Marketing Coordinator — Don's responsibilities include marketing, maintaining the group's client and internal web sites, collecting and reporting on group metrics, preparing class materials for instructors, hosting the group's Tech Briefing presentations, and providing backup support to the Registrar and Lab Manager. After studying Journalism up in Prince Edward Island, Canada, Don made his way down to California where he got his start in the Stanford Library system. He's been working at Stanford since 1997, and with IT Services since 2000.
Christine Capper, Registrar / Operations Lead
Robin Cohen, Financial Associate — Robin's responsibilities include service billing, reconciling accounts, purchasing, financial reporting, and serving as the liaison between Technology Training, Applications Support (STARS, Pinnacle) and IT Services Finance staff.
