Disconnecting Your Telephone and Networking Services

Visit the following web sites to disconnect your service:

  1. To disconnect cable TV services, go to Axess (http://axess.stanford.edu). Look under "My IT Services" and click on the My IT Services button. Important: Make sure you "checkout your cart" to finalize the disconnect request.
  2. To disconnect your in-room network connection, go to http://rescomp.stanford.edu.

Please review the instructions below for disconnecting subscription services when you leave campus at the end of the academic year.

Undergraduate students

If you have subscribed to cable TV services provided by IT Services you are responsible for their disconnection if you leave before the end of the academic year. (Note: Stanford provides each on-campus residence with a basic telephone, and there's no need to worry about disconnecting this basic service.) Please see the table below for how to disconnect your services.

Undergraduate students

Leaving for summer Shutoff of these services is automatic, on the Monday after graduation. IT Services prorates monthly charges based on the disconnect date.

Want to disconnect early? It's the responsibility of the subscriber to place an order in Axess to disconnect services.

Digital cable subscribers: you must return your digital cable box or you will be charged up to $500 (depending on the model) for the unreturned box. Return your cable box at one of the following locations:

  • Escondido Village housing service center, 859 Escondido Rd.
  • Florence Moore housing service center, 436 Mayfield Ave.
  • Governors Corner housing service center, 589 Governors Ave.
  • Lagunita housing service center, 326 Santa Teresa St.
  • Stern Hall housing service center, 618 Escondido Rd.
  • Wilbur and Mirelees housing service center, 658 Escondido Rd.
  • Manzanita housing service center, 661 Escondido Rd.
  • Forsythe Hall, 275 Panama St., room 135. (Mon. – Fri., 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.)
Students in undergraduate residences are automatically disconnected in mid-June, so you need not discontinue your service if you are leaving at the end of Spring Quarter.
Moving to new room Disconnect your old telephone and/or cable TV service and activate new service in your new location. Important: Be sure to verify that your current service is disconnected. (See below for how to do this.) Disconnect your old room's in-room network connection at the ResComp computing web site at http://rescomp.stanford.edu and place an order for new service after you receive your new room key.

Graduate students

If you have subscribed to any cable TV services provided by IT Services you are responsible for their disconnection at the end of the academic year. Leaving for summer Important: If you subscribe to additional telephone service or cable TV service and will be leaving campus, whether for the summer or permanently, you must disconnect your service. IT Services will NOT automatically disconnect graduate student cable TV service.

Right before you are done with it (or soon after), disconnect your in-room network connection at the Residential Computing web site at http://rescomp.stanford.edu.
Remaining in room You do not need to contact IT Services. Your cable TV service will remain active. You do not need to contact Residential Computing. Your in-room network connection will remain active.
Moving to new room Disconnect your cable TV service and activate new service in your new location. Important: Be sure to verify that your current service is disconnected. (See below for how to do this.) Right before you move, update the registration for your in-room network connection at the Residential Computing web site at http://rescomp.stanford.edu.
