Guest Accounts are self-service accounts that provide access to restricted online resources at Stanford for the thousands of conference attendees, collaborators, colleagues at other institutions, and guests who visit Stanford each year — physically or virtually. Guest Accounts provide access only to online resources that have been specifically set up for guest access.
Guest Accounts allow access to restricted web pages and other online resources without the sponsorship, management, billing, and support requirements of a sponsored SUNet ID. Anyone can request a Guest Account, and accounts can also be initiated by a member of the Stanford community.
Features
- Available to the public.
- Self-service. Can be initiated by a member of the Stanford community, or can be requested by anyone who has a valid email address and a need to access certain restricted online resources at Stanford.
- Uses the Guest Account holder's non- Stanford email address for identification and authentication.
- Automated password resets.
- Actively used accounts do not need to be periodically renewed. Inactive accounts are automatically disabled after 13 months.
