Information Technology Services is Stanford's cable television service provider. Called Cardinal Cable, the service offers entertainment, sports, news, cultural programming, and educational channels.
Overview
Stanford offers Cable TV service for classrooms and conference rooms, residence halls, and faculty and staff residences.
For classrooms and conference rooms
Used by university departments in classrooms and conference rooms, Basic Cable TV provides access to educational and news channels. For special events, IT Services can provide satellite downlink services at most campus locations to bring a "live feed" for group viewing.
For student residence halls
There are four kinds of service available in the residence halls:
- Courtesy Room Service provides a base level of service free-of-charge in all student rooms.
- Courtesy Lounge Service provides an enhanced base level of free service in residence lounges.
- Deluxe Lounge Service provides an all digital lineup with over 80 HD channels, a HD/DVR cable TV box included at no extra charge*, and is available by subscription only.
- Basic Service provides an all digital lineup with over 80 HD channels, a HD/DVR cable TV box included at no extra charge*, and is available by subscription only.
- Premium Service provides an all digital lineup with over 80 HD channels, a HD/DVR cable TV box included at no extra charge*, and additional programming such as HBO, Starz, Showtime, and Encore. Available by subscription only.
If you and your roommate(s) choose to subscribe to cable TV service, you must subscribe through the university. The local cable TV companies do not provide service at Stanford. Service is charged monthly to your University bill.
* When disconnecting your cable TV service, you must return your digital cable box or you will be charged a $449.95 fee for the unreturned box. Return your cable box at one of the following locations:
- Forsythe Hall, 275 Panama St. Room 135, Monday through Friday, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. (closed from 12:30 – 1 p.m.)
- Escondido Village housing service center, 859 Escondido Rd.
- Florence Moore housing service center, 436 Mayfield Ave.
- Governors Corner housing service center, 589 Governors Ave.
- Lagunita housing service center, 326 Santa Teresa St.
- Stern Hall housing service center, 618 Escondido Rd.
- Wilbur and Mirelees housing service center, 658 Escondido Rd.
- Manzanita housing service center, 661 Escondido Rd.
For faculty and staff residences

Getting started
To order Cardinal Cable TV service:
- Faculty and staff — To order new service or to make changes to your existing services, dial (650) 725-HELP, Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
- Students — Place your order through My IT Services on Axess.
You can self-install your digital cable box. Cable boxes are available for pickup the day after you submit your order, at:
